From the field to automation
Construction machinery mechanic
4 years of apprenticeship as a construction machinery mechanic at Zmoos, hands on the machines. From the age of 18, the first service call-outs across French-speaking Switzerland.
Field technician
Then five years at Liebherr in German-speaking Switzerland, as a field technician from the age of 19. Work at customer sites, on demanding machines.
Agricultural machinery
A year in Canada with a John Deere agricultural machinery importer. A different brand, different methods, and farms on an entirely different scale.
Electrical engineering in automation
Back in Switzerland, studies in electrical engineering and automation, still under way. This dual skill set, mechanical and electronic, makes it possible to tackle a crankshaft seal as readily as a CAN network or an electrical cabinet.

Machine manufacturers' technical documentation is mostly in German, and importers' hotlines sit in German-speaking Switzerland. Reading a manual without translation and getting an answer the same day directly shortens a job.
Outside the workshop
A taste for a challenge
The most interesting projects are the ones that do not exist yet. Hence the Deutz tractor fitted with a 16-litre V10 engine, built to see how far the idea could be taken. The same drive to see things through shows up outside work too: walking to England, or finishing the Embrunman.
